Additional Invol2ver Information

Limited Edition Two CD set. 13 tracks. Unlike dance mixes that are simply compilation CDs consisting of hits blended together in a continuous flow, DJ Sasha's Involver is a mix that features both the artist's own music and exclusive tracks from other electronic artists. The resultant vibe is more like a traditional single-artist album than a collection of unrelated songs. In addition to the usual mixer and turntable techniques that form the basis of dance DJs' stock-in-trade, Sasha employs cutting-edge computer manipulation and a wide array of vintage synthesizers to blur the line between fully produced recordings and live improvisatory disc-spinning. Using his trademark trance aesthetic as a starting point, Sasha establishes a spare, cool-as-ice feel with a distinctly European flavor. He maintains this throughout, slowly building the tracks with the care of a painter, and ultimately delivering an album equally suited for the club or a post-party headphone session. Rolling Stone - 3 1/2 stars out of 5 - "One satisfying set....This is Sasha's most substantial work in years." CMJ - "Stylistically, he veers far off the progressive path, offering moody textures, fractured breaks and crunching guitars..."

What Customers Say About Invol2ver:

Sasha can really nail it or sound a bit ordinary, with this mix the later applies

The pressure to even match up to a masterpiece like 'Involver' is immeasurable, but this album just tries TOO hard, doesn't really go anywhere, and is way over produced. It's okay though, it's Sasha. he'll be back.

The amazing thing hearing Sasha spin live about a year and a half ago was that in the course of a four-hour period, every track he played added new musical elements to the mix, so it keeps getting better and better and better. This album left me with an opposite impression. It's a solid but also risk-free compilation, perhaps because it is part of the Global Underground series.

the heart of the mix (the tracks by apparat, home video, and ladytron [and what a track that one is].) is dark and techy and lush.the only reason this isn't a 5 is that the mix lacks a punch that the first one had. not to the distraction of anything else but for the benefit of exploring.

as with all of the really good quality mix recordings out there, there's way more than meets the ear on the first listen. the first involver was more up my alley style-wise but this one is growing on me the more i listen to it.

this mix is packed with subtleties. little details reveal themselves each time i put it on and i've listened to it 30x.

it's more rhythmically simple than some of the progressive house mixes i like more but i think that simplicity allows a relaxation of the mind to explore the deeper sonic landscape he's creating here. i think he's taking even more of a cue from the ambient canon than before and i like the results.

it's not as deeply exciting but as i've said above, it's more intricate.

My favorite CD. Taking you to another place. It just a trip into your senses.
